The new Next store at Bloomfield Shopping Centre, Bangor, commenced trading recently. MSM Contracts are proud to have been involved as the design & build contractor on this construction project, costing approximately £1m and delivered within a 4-month programme.

– Construction of a double-height extension to provide a new two-storey retail unit for Next including planar glazing and facing brickwork to the front façade
– Remodelling of the shopping centre management suite at first floor level

– Minor site improvement works to front of new Next retail unit, including extra car parking spaces, construction of ramped & stepped accesses, paving and stainless steel glazed balustrading
– Provision of an additional 30nr car parking spaces adjacent to Smyths Toys

The Next retail unit was completed to a shell finish by MSM, with the shop fit-out carried out by a specialist fit-out contractor under a subsequent contract.

Prezzo restaurant on the way at Boucher Square!

Following our successful delivery of the four-unit Boucher Square restaurant development during 2015, MSM have been awarded the contract by Alterity Investments to construct a fifth unit for Prezzo, the Italian restaurant chain. Once completed in autumn this year, the Boucher Square unit will be the chain’s second restaurant in Northern Ireland.

Boucher Square has been trading since late summer 2015 and includes the popular chains – Frankie & Benny’s, Nandos, Ed’s Easy Diner and Costa Coffee.

MSM will construct the 300m2 unit to a shell specification with interior fit-out to be completed by the client. The building is designed by Bangor-based InsideOut Architects to complement the adjacent restaurants.

Key elements of the building work will involve:
– Mini-piled foundations with ground beams
– Structural steel frame including roof steelwork, roof purlins and cladding rails
– Suspended precast hollowcore floor units
– Building envelope will comprise ppc aluminium curtain walling and entrance doors, coloured render, blockwork plinths, Kingspan KS1000 MR, Trocal roofing, signage and a steel doorset

External works will involve minor site clearance/preparation works, re-configuration and re-surfacing works to the existing car park, paved areas, external furniture and new underground drainage works including connections to the existing drainage network.
