Building and Civil Engineering Contractors

Corporate Responsibility

MSM realise the importance of carrying out our construction projects in a manner that generates a positive image for our company and the wider construction industry. We recognise the importance of minimising the risks and inconvenience to building occupants, neighbouring properties, general public and road users.

Where applicable, MSM carry out projects under the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), which is a UK-wide initiative. This scheme commits our company to be a ‘Considerate Constructor’ and ‘Good Neighbour’ by complying with their Code of Considerate Practice:
• Care about Appearance
• Respect the Community
• Protect the Environment
• Secure Everyone’s Safety
• Value Your Workforce

Our sites regularly obtain CCS ‘Beyond Compliance’ scores. This demonstrates the continued ambition within MSM to reduce the impact of our construction operations and to provide a benefit to the local community.

In 2012, MSM were named as a Bronze award winner in the CCS national site awards for a public sector project in Carnlough, Co Antrim. This award is given to the top scoring sites UK-wide that have demonstrated consideration towards local neighbourhoods, the general public, our workforce and the environment.

Examples of community engagement initiatives:
• Regular communications with client representatives/neighbours/commercial owners on upcoming construction works
• Hosting site visits by local schools and presenting talks on construction methods, site safety and environmental issues
• Links with local colleges to offer work placement/apprenticeships
• Using local subcontractors and material suppliers
