MSM successfully delivered this project to construct an extension and undertake internal refurbishment works to Dungannon Leisure Centre. Strict H&S control measures and phased working was introduced to ensure the leisure centre remained open throughout the 10 month contract period and that works were carried out with minimal risk and inconvenience to leisure centre staff and users. The two-storey annex is connected to the existing building via a link corridor and provides ground floor changing facilities, with a fitness studio, activity rooms and offices at upper floor level.
Asbestos removal, demolitions and structural alterations were carried out during the enabling works phase to facilitate the future new build works. The extension comprises a structural steelwork frame with masonry infill walling, precast floor slabs and a Kingspan metal deck with Trocal roof. External walls combine Spanwall architectural cladding, coloured render and PPC aluminium curtain walling and doors.
Internal fit-out works included M&E services, suspended ceilings, partitions, joinery work, interior surface finishes and internal furniture including changing room, washrooms and office furniture. The refurbishment works involved a complete removal and upgrade to existing M&E installations in the existing leisure centre.
