This project was carried out within an acute hospital environment involving refurbishment works to convert the existing outpatients ward into a new fracture clinic. The works were undertaken on the ground floor of the main hospital building and were carried out adjacent to a medical ward, cardiology department, a cancer unit and a number of specialist treatment rooms. Our project team was required to implement strict working controls to ensure all adjacent medical areas remained fully operational throughout the construction period.
Reconfiguration works involved minor demolitions, building up / forming new openings, stripping out surface finishes, removal of fitted furniture and stripping out existing M&E installations.
The interior fit-out phase comprised:
- Metal stud partitions, suspended ceilings and internal plastering
- Internal joinery work including timber doorsets
- Vinyl floor coverings
- Decoration
- Internal fitted furniture including washrooms
- Fittings (mirrors, blinds, shelving)
- Replacement M&E services including medical gas installation
Specialist works included construction of a radiology/x-ray room with lead lined walls, ceilings and doors.
