MSM Contracts were awarded this contract to construct a new night club entrance and outdoor smoking area at The Belmont Hotel in Banbridge, Co Down. The works were completed within a 6-week construction programme to ensure the project was handed over ahead of the opening of the XS Night Club & Entertainment Complex on 05th December 2015. This was a critical project requirement to ensure The Belmont Hotel was fully able to host their Christmas 2015 entertainment programme.

The enabling works phase involved site clearance works and minor demolitions to an existing outdoor area and rear entry to the night club. The newly formed night club entrance is constructed with substructure blockwork on traditional pad & strip foundations, a structural steel frame with masonry infill walling and precast floor slabs. The building envelope combines roof cladding, PPC aluminium glazing and a smooth render finish. The night club entrance was fully fitted out by specialist contractors including M&E subcontractors, with bespoke floor coverings and a padded upholstery finish to the entrance doors and lobby desk.

The external works package involved laying decorative paving to the night club entrance and outdoor smoking area, perimeter fencing, landscaping and works associated with connections to the existing drainage system.

To ensure the works were delivered on-time, our site team had to overcome particularly adverse weather conditions including periods of heavy rainfall during critical stages of the programme. On a daily basis throughout the project, all construction activities were co-ordinated with the hotel management to minimise disruption to normal hotel operations and inconvenience to hotel guests. In addition, we liaised closely with fit-out contractors who were involved in concurrent works elsewhere within the hotel to ensure there were no access restrictions to work areas for all parties.
