Role of MSM Contracts

Main Contractor

ibis Belfast City Centre Hotel is one of two ibis-branded hotels in Belfast that MSM has constructed for Andras House. The newbuild 124-bed hotel comprises ten storeys plus a basement. The works were undertaken in a very busy city centre location on the corner of King Street and Castle Street, with the hotel covering the entire footprint of the site and constructed adjacent to a multi-storey apartment development.

The 3* hotel includes 124nr fully fitted-out bedrooms with en-suite bathroom pods, a reception area, restaurant with kitchen and licensed bar, ground floor offices and staff accommodation, laundry, boiler/plant and storage rooms in the basement.

The basement was constructed using a secant piled wall to form the outer perimeter basement retaining structure. The building is constructed with a reinforced concrete frame on piled foundations, reinforced concrete floor slabs and 2nr reinforced concrete lift shafts. The external envelope comprises coloured render, rainscreen cladding, PPC aluminium glazing and a Trocal flat roof.

A complete interior fit-out including mechanical, electrical & lift services was completed to all hotel areas including all 124nr guestrooms.
