Role of MSM Contracts
In order to accommodate their new ‘Flexographic Printing & Converting Facility’ and increase their production capabilities, Delta Packaging required a 55,000ft2 extension to their Belfast manufacturing facility. MSM successfully procured this extension under a Design & Build contract and delivered the project within a 7 month timeframe. Construction works were required to progress with minimal inconvenience to the client, as the facility remained fully operational 24/7 throughout the construction period.
Before commencing the construction works, extensive site clearance works and reduced level excavation were undertaken. The extension was constructed on precast driven pile foundations with a structural steel frame and Kingspan insulated roof and wall cladding including translucent panels and siphonic rainwater installation. A number of machinery pits, up to 2m deep, were formed in the in-situ suspended steel-fibre reinforced concrete floor slab which had an integrated gas membrane layer.
Other works included:
- Constructing a loading bay including 3nr dock levellers and installing lorry wheel guides
- Formation of concrete service yard and access road
- Diversion and re-connection of existing services
