Role of MSM Contracts
MSM were awarded this fast-track project to construct a new single-storey KFC fast-food restaurant and drive-thru on a brownfield site in Glengormley town centre. The works were successfully delivered to a shell finish within a 20-week programme.
Key elements of the works involved:
– site enabling works including site clearance and a major foul sewer diversion
– a combination of trenchfill concrete and RC pad & strip foundations
– structural steelwork frame
– building façade: Kingspan Microrib wall cladding, a cladded feature fin wall in KFC branded colours, ppc aluminium curtain walling including entrance doors, Z-stone cladding and Thermowood vertical timber cladding to the side elevations
– roof: Kingspan KS1000 to the main roof and Kingspan Topdek to both the lower-level roof and pod roof
– sand:cement screed to the 200mm RC subfloor slab
External works involved:
– site drainage works
– external services incl. incoming site utilities and electrical works associated with the drive-thru
– permeable paving to car park spaces & pedestrian areas
– construction of a bin enclosure
– bitmac surfacing, including roadmarkings, to car park areas and the drive-thru
– perimeter fencing; railings; external furniture; erection of totem signage
