Royal Victoria Hospital works start on-site

MSM have recently commenced the £1m refurbishment of Bostock House at the Royal Victoria Hospital for the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust (BHSCT). Bostock House is an existing 9-storey building located next to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and was originally constructed in the early 1950’s to provide nurses’ accommodation, although the building is currently used for administration purposes. This project is being undertaken to accommodate the decanting of the BHSCT Estates Department from their existing temporary accommodation, which is required to be demolished to facilitate the future development of the Royal Victoria Hospital site.

Extensive refurbishment works are being carried out on the lower ground and third floors, with minor works on other floors. Non-construction areas of the building will remain ‘live’ throughout the project duration. Works will involve stripping out existing interior finishes, alterations and upgrade works to existing M&E services and complete interior fit-out works.

Project managers on this contract are AECOM working in conjunction with Isherwood + Ellis Architects. On-site works commenced during mid-June 2015 with a 19-week timescale and phased completions will be required to suit BHSCT requirements.
