Sod cutting ceremony at Saintfield High School

Education Minister, John O’Dowd, attended a sod cutting ceremony on 18 March 2015 at our Saintfield High School site to officially mark the commencement of construction works to construct a new sports hall extension.

Designed by Kennedy Fitzgerald Architects working in conjunction with the SEELB Architects’ Department, the £1.5m project will provide a three-court indoor sports hall at first floor level constructed over covered car parking at ground level. The works will also involve the construction of new changing accommodation and a reception area. The sports hall will be accessed via a high level bridge from the Comber Road footpath.

Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony, the Education Minister stated: “This is a good day for all the pupils and staff at Saintfield High School. The new sports hall will make a huge difference to the school community.”

The project is programmed to be completed by the start of September 2015.
